Three Manchester United academy stars who could play vs Barnsley

Manchester United U-23s beat their Brighton and Hove Albion counterparts

Manchester United U-23s continued their impressive start to the Premier League 2 season with a 3-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at the AMEX Elite Football Performance Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Neil Wood's side took the lead in the 29th minute through a stunning strike by Shola Shoretire. The young forward picked up the ball on the left-hand side of the box, cut inside and curled a magnificent effort into the top corner.

Brighton equalised in the 52nd minute through a neat finish by Aaron Connolly. However, United regained the lead just four minutes later when Charlie McNeill headed home from a corner.

Shoretire then made it 3-1 in the 65th minute with a clinical finish after being played through by McNeill.

The win leaves United top of the Premier League 2 table after two games. They will now face Barnsley in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

Three academy stars who could play vs Barnsley

With a number of first-team players unavailable due to injury, Wood is likely to give some of his academy stars a chance to impress against Barnsley.

Harry Amass

Amass is a versatile defender who can play at centre-back or right-back. He has been in impressive form for the U-23s this season, and he could be given a chance to make his first-team debut against Barnsley.

Charlie McNeill

McNeill is a prolific goalscorer who has netted seven goals in eight games for the U-23s this season. He is still only 18 years old, but he has the potential to be a top player.

Shola Shoretire

Shoretire is a highly-rated attacking midfielder who has been capped by England at youth level. He is a creative and skilful player who can unlock defences with his passing and dribbling ability.

Conclusion

Manchester United's academy is one of the most successful in England, and it has produced a number of world-class players over the years. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga have all come through the ranks at Old Trafford, and they will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious predecessors.

The three players mentioned above are all capable of making an impact at first-team level, and they will be hoping to get a chance to show what they can do against Barnsley on Tuesday night.
